Despite earlier plans, announcements and efforts, the city did not receive funding from the voivodeship for a modern bridge connecting Gdańska Street with the new swimming pools on Spacerowa Street in Bolesławiec (the site of the former footbridge).
President Piotr Roman spoke about the situation during the session. He announced that the voivode had issued a negative decision regarding the application for funding for a new bridge in Bolesławiec. The new bridge was intended to be a convenient, modern crossing suitable for both pedestrian and vehicle traffic, including emergency services.
Piotr Roman assured everyone that the bridge would be built in Bolesławiec despite the voivode’s negative decision. Even if it had to be fought for tooth and nail. The mayor announced that he would mobilize everyone to look for funding for this purpose wherever possible, because this bridge means life and the money must be found.
In the near future, a temporary bridge is to be built over the Bóbr River, at the so-called small waterfall (the damaged weir), closer to Rajska Street. The temporary bridge is to be built by the military. Its installation is expected to take two days. The temporary bridge is to be five metres wide. The location for the temporary bridge was not chosen by chance. At this point, near the damaged weir, the river is at its narrowest.
