Because water saves lives. This is not a slogan, but a fact. Dehydration, overheating, lack of shelter, and burns caused by chains — this is the daily reality for thousands of animals on hot days.
How can you help animals in summer? It’s simple:
💧 Put out a bowl of water
Place the bowl where animals can easily find it — by a house, shop, business, or in a park. The bowl should be kept in the shade, on a stable surface, and away from direct sunlight. Replace the water regularly — it must be fresh, clean, and cool.
☀️ Provide shade and shelter
On hot days, animals primarily need access to a cool, shaded place where they can take shelter from the sun and high temperatures.
If a dog lives in a kennel, make sure it is properly insulated. A wooden kennel covered with roofing felt works best, as it protects against heat and rain.
Avoid metal — sheet metal and chains heat up extremely quickly and can cause burns.
Remove the chain — a dog should not be kept tethered — a chain restricts movement and prevents it from seeking shade and resting comfortably.
🐕 Ensure sufficient space and comfort
A dog kept in a kennel run or enclosed area should have enough space to move around calmly, lie down, and rest comfortably.
🚫 Do not leave a dog in a car
Not even for a moment. Even with the window slightly open.
A car in the sun is a deadly trap — the temperature inside can reach as high as 70°C within a few minutes.
🚶♂️Avoid walks in full sun
Hot asphalt can burn a dog’s paws. It is best to go for walks in the morning or late evening, when it is cooler. If you must go out during the day, make sure the walk is short.
Check the surface with your hand — if it is too hot for you, it is too hot for the dog as well.
❗React when you see an animal in need
Have you noticed an animal without water? A dog chained in full sunlight?
Do not walk past indifferently.
Call. Take a photo. Report it. Your reaction may save a life.
