Officers of the Customs and Tax Service from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław and the Border Guard from the Nadodrzański Branch conducted joint operations aimed at combating the trade in illegal excise goods. – In Zgorzelec, at one of the petrol stations, officers inspected two passenger cars with Czech registration plates. In the trunks and on the back seats of the cars, the officers discovered contraband – illegal cigarettes – reports Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, spokeswoman for the Lower Silesian KAS.
She adds: – In both cases, the services detected a total of 300,000 cigarettes with a market value of more than PLN 260,000.
Two drivers were detained in connection with the case – a Slovak national and a Czech national.
The illegal goods were secured by officers of the Customs and Tax Service from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław, who are conducting further proceedings in the case.
