Police officers from the Bolesławiec unit detained a man suspected of committing fraud. Police: – The crime took place in Bolesławiec, where two men arranged to finalize a verbal agreement concerning the purchase of two mobile phones for PLN 7,000. The seller was a 35-year-old resident of Zgorzelec, while the buyer was a resident of Jelenia Góra.
Before handing over the agreed amount, the seller refused to unpack the boxes containing the products, claiming that doing so would reduce their value. After handing over the money and opening the cartons, the victim realized that he had been defrauded. Instead of new phones, he received used, old and incomplete devices. Officers: – His reaction was immediate – he chased the fraudster, demanding the return of the cash. First there was a verbal altercation, followed by a scuffle.
Police officers from Bolesławiec detained the perpetrator, who was charged with three offenses: fraud, causing minor bodily harm by striking and wrestling with the victim. He will additionally be held responsible for possessing amphetamine.
As a repeat offender, the 35-year-old now faces up to 12 years in prison.
Police secured PLN 2,000 from the perpetrator; the remaining cash had previously been recovered by the victim.
