The situation in Bolesławiec and Bolesławiec County
In Bolesławiec, heavy rain began on Sunday (July 27) before 14:00 and continued for 1.5 hours.
As for the two largest rivers in Bolesławiec County, there is no reason for concern at present.
The water level of the river Bóbr in Dąbrowa Bolesławiecka, at 19:10, was 80 cm (the warning level is 300 cm, and the alarm level is 350 cm).
The water level of the river Kwisa in Nowogrodziec, at 19:10, was 107 cm (the warning level is 330 cm, and the alarm level is 380 cm).
Flooding and local inundation in Jelenia Góra and the surrounding area
On Saturday (July 26), heavy rainfall led to local flooding and inundated streets, among other places, in Jelenia Góra, Kamienna Góra, Łomnica and Mysłakowice.
Water from these areas flowed into the Bóbr River and, following the river’s course, is heading toward our region and will certainly contribute to rising water levels in the rivers here.

Where will conditions be worst?
The Genoa low, which has already affected the weather in Poland for the second time this month, will bring the most rain and poor weather to several regions, particularly the south, centre and east of the country.
According to forecasts, the heaviest rainfall is expected in an area stretching from Gdańsk Pomerania and Warmia, through Kuyavia and central Poland, to Lesser Poland and the Silesian Beskids.
Forecast precipitation totals in these regions may reach as much as 60–100 mm, comparable to monthly rainfall totals. This creates a real risk of a rapid rise in river levels and local flooding.
Detailed warnings
The highest warning level (level III) has been issued for the Silesian, Lesser Poland and Opole Voivodeships.
A high risk also applies to the Subcarpathian, Świętokrzyskie and Lower Silesian Voivodeships. Rainfall in these regions is expected to be moderate to heavy, and thunderstorms, hail and strong winds with gusts of up to 80 km/h may also occur locally.
In western Poland, there will be less rain, but locally heavy downpours may occur there as well.
The deterioration in weather is expected to last at least until Wednesday.
