On 25 July, road transport inspectors from Wrocław carried out another inspection operation at the 156th kilometre of the A4 motorway, once again using a mobile diagnostic line (MLD). The office: – This was already one of many such inspections organised by the Wrocław Road Transport Inspection. The MLD enables a detailed examination of the technical condition of heavy goods vehicles without the need to direct them to stationary vehicle inspection stations.
The result? During the operation, several vehicles were inspected, of which each was classified as technically defective – inspectors confiscated the registration certificates of all the trucks inspected.
The most serious deficiencies were found in a vehicle belonging to one of the domestic carriers. Road Transport Inspection: – As the inspection showed, the vehicle did not have valid technical tests, and the mobile diagnostic line revealed a number of serious defects. The most dangerous was a crack in the brake disc on the steered axle.
In addition, the following were found:- ineffective service and auxiliary brakes – values below the minimums set out in the regulations,
- a faulty ABS system (the warning light indicated a malfunction),
- missing or incorrectly mounted rear-view mirrors,
- damage to the windscreen wiper blades,
- incorrect mounting of the compressed-air tank,
- loose mountings of the vehicle’s structural components,
- a suspension defect.
The outcome? Inspectors: – Due to the irregularities found, the vehicle was taken out of service, and the driver was prohibited from continuing to drive until the defects had been repaired. The driver was fined, while administrative proceedings were initiated against the carrier and the person responsible for managing the transport, which may result in a substantial financial penalty.
This is not the end. The Wrocław Road Transport Inspection announces that checks using a mobile diagnostic line will continue: – It is an effective tool in the fight against technically defective vehicles that pose a real threat to road safety.
