Roads in Bolesławiec County, in the localities of Gromadka, Nowogrodziec, Warta Bolesławiecka, Osiecznica, Bolesławiec and the Municipality of Bolesławiec, were in poor technical condition, with potholes, cracks and damaged pavement edges disrupting rainwater drainage. The roads did not meet the standards for appropriate technical parameters; among other things, they were too narrow, which led to faster pavement deterioration through crumbling edges and damaged shoulders.

The modernisation included replacing the pavement, reconstructing road shoulders and cleaning ditches, as well as renovating pavements and pedestrian-and-vehicle routes on selected sections. The load-bearing capacity of some roads was also increased from 8 to 11.5 tonnes per axle using specialist reinforcing grids.

The modernised sections are:

  1. Parzyce – Kierżno (2281D), 650 m;
  2. Osła – Gromadka (2285D), 990 m;
  3. Dąbrowa Bolesławiecka – Kraśnik Dolny (2286D), 485 m;
  4. Tomaszów Bolesławiecki – Szczytnica (2286D), 990 m;
  5. Nowa Wieś – Lipiany (2287D), 650 m;
  6. Gościszów (2496D), 990 m;
  7. Milików, Kolonia Street (2296D), 990 m;
  8. Small Bolesławiec bypass (Gancarska, Zygmunta Augusta and Kosiby streets) – 870 m;
  9. Osiecznica, Lubańska Street (former DW 357) – 918 m.

The aim was not only to improve the comfort and safety of pedestrians and drivers, but also to extend the pavement’s service life and improve drainage. The works covered, among other things, Gancarska, Zygmunta Augusta and Kosiby streets in Bolesławiec, as well as sections in Gościszów, Milików, Osła, Tomaszów Bolesławiecki, Nowa Wieś and Kraśnik Dolny.

The completed project represents not only an improvement in the technical condition of the roads, but also an important step towards coherent, safe and modern transport infrastructure throughout the county.
