Inspectors from the Wrocław branch of the Road Transport Inspection carried out further technical inspections of heavy goods vehicles on the A4 motorway on 16 July this year, using a mobile diagnostic line. This is how they summed up the operation:

All vehicles inspected that day had serious defects, which resulted in their registration certificates being seized. In one case, an intensive leak of operating fluid was detected.

However, the most serious violations concerned a vehicle combination belonging to one of the national hauliers, which was carrying a multi-tonne load of silicate blocks. Road Transport Inspection: – During the inspection carried out on the mobile diagnostic line, the trailer’s braking system was found to be completely inoperative, both the service brake and the auxiliary brake. The braking force on the wheels of the trailer’s first two axles differed by 70% and 93%, respectively, while the parking brake did not work at all.

Excessive tyre wear, lighting defects and the absence of the required reflective markings were also found.

The result? Inspectors:

Due to the irregularities detected, the vehicle was immediately taken off the road, and the driver was prohibited from continuing the journey until the defects had been rectified. A vehicle was called to the scene, and the blocks were transferred from the defective vehicle. The driver was fined. Administrative proceedings were initiated against the haulier and the person responsible for managing the transport operation, which may result in high financial penalties.

The actions focused on detecting technical defects posing a threat to road traffic safety.
