In February 2025, a precedent-setting trial began. Father Andrzej Jarosiewicz and celebrity Adrian Drankowski accused the entire istotne.pl editorial team of defamation.

The priest did everything he could to silence the matter concerning the film “Who Is Adrian?”, which presented his relationship with Adrian Drankowski, who is almost 30 years younger than him.

Bringing a case against all the journalists at istotne.pl (known by the English name SLAPP) was intended—as the editorial team saw it—to gag the journalists.

All the istotne.pl journalists, TVN television and a representative of another portal unfavourable toward the defendant editorial team attended the announcement of the verdict.

Former Bolesławiec parish priest Andrzej Jarosiewicz and celebrity Adrian Drankowski did not appear at the announcement; only a female lawyer representing their attorney was present.

The court completely cleared the istotne.pl journalists of the charges and ordered the plaintiffs, Jarosiewicz and Drankowski, to pay the costs of the court proceedings.

The verdict is not final at this point. The journalists, however, are not announcing an appeal and are satisfied with the outcome of the hearing.

The journalists were defended by lawyers associated with the Freedom from Religion Foundation.
