The police and the Zgorzelec Prosecutor’s Office conducted investigative checks into a possible abuse of powers and failure to perform official duties by the authorities of Bolesławiec and members of the competition committee, which had been appointed to assess the submitted applications on their merits regarding requests for funding for sports clubs.
On June 23, 2025, a prosecutor from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Zgorzelec approved the decision prepared by a police officer in this case to refuse to open an investigation. The investigators found that there were no elements of a prohibited act. For the aforementioned crime to have occurred, a public official must act to the detriment of the public or private interest. No such action was found.
The decision is final. Whether this is the end of the matter remains to be seen.
