Polish Waters employees are preparing for the expected rainfall: – According to the statement issued by IMGW-PIB and the meteorological and hydrological warnings, heavy rainfall associated with a low-pressure system is forecast in Poland over the coming days. The system is moving from the Mediterranean region over south-eastern Poland and may remain over the country for several days.

Consequently, sharp rises in water levels should be expected, especially in mountain and upland catchments and urban areas. Warning and alarm levels may be exceeded, particularly in mountain and upland catchments and urbanized areas. Local flooding and flash floods may occur.

What is the situation?

The office: – The situation at flood-control reservoirs as of 7 July 2025 is stable and continuously monitored. The reservoirs have flood-storage capacities equal to or greater than those required by water-management operating instructions. Due to the prevailing hydrological drought in most of the country, most reservoirs have increased flood-storage capacities.

It adds: – Dry flood-control reservoirs are not impounding water and are ready to begin operating if rainfall occurs.

It also announces: – Reservoir operations will be adjusted to the current hydrological forecasts and issued warnings.

The flood-storage capacities are shown in the table below.
