Children most often painted characters from fairy tales, flowers, butterflies, ladybugs and birds. The works also feature Easter motifs, as well as places and situations associated with joy, carefree enjoyment and play.

Drawings, coloring pictures, collages and figurines made from clay are just some of the media used by children with disabilities. Not all the works are signed. On some of them, handprints appear instead of signatures.

“Some of the children could only sign their work in this way. This results from the degree of their disability,” Danuta Stefanów, the special school’s principal, told Boleslawiec.org.

The exhibition was organized thanks to the support of the “Bank Dziecięcych Uśmiechów” foundation, operating at Bank Zachodni. The foundation donated a cheque for PLN 1,500, which was used to purchase materials and fund prizes for the authors of the works. The exhibition will remain open for another week.
