The “Dolina Bobru” Water and Sewage Company installed temporary valves with buttons in the drinking fountain in Bolesławiec Market Square. The valves automatically shut off the water supply after a certain amount of time. This is intended to prevent water waste—previously, someone would sometimes leave the tap running.
The buttons activating the water were stolen from the drinking fountain several days ago—not the valves. The buttons have now simply been reinstalled.
The Bolec portal, in an article by Bernard Łętowski, described the incident and additionally raised the issue of the crooked sprinkler. It described this as an act of vandalism, while also confusing the sprinkler’s location—it was not the one by the fountain, but the second one by the drinking fountain. Let us quote Łętowski: “The vandals also turned their attention to the sprinkler mushroom near the fountain, which they tried to knock over and damage”.
The incident unfolded differently: a young boy was dancing around the device and then wanted to spin around the structure. The recording shows that the sprinkler was not firmly installed, and the boy was not trying to knock it over or damage it at all. In fact, someone could have been injured if the area around the sprinkler had become even more waterlogged, because the mushroom could have tilted further. All in all, this situation has shown that the structure should be secured more firmly.
If the other “information” published by Bolec is prepared with similar care, all we can do is feel sorry for its readers.
