A school was flooded in Gromadka. The situation in the municipality is catastrophic

Numerous properties, garages and basements were flooded, and the image showing a flooded municipal storage building, where the water reached almost to the ceiling, clearly demonstrates the scale of the losses.

– A violent storm bringing rain and hail swept through our municipality – says Ryszard Kawka. – This phenomenon, unprecedented in June so far, caused significant material losses, the full extent of which will be assessed tomorrow – the municipal head adds.

The municipal head emphasizes the involvement and assistance of the firefighters, who worked to minimize the effects of the storm.

– Due to the accumulation of hail, it was necessary to call in a backhoe loader to clear the roads – the municipal head reports. – Unfortunately, the disaster also affected public infrastructure, including a school, where the gymnasium was flooded. All emergency and public-order services are currently working at full capacity, trying to bring the situation under control and minimize the effects of the storm.

Gromadka Municipality has a very well-organized and well-equipped fire protection service. There are five volunteer fire brigade units for 11 villages, including three in the national rescue system. The distribution of the units is truly ideal. In the southern part of the municipality there are OSP Różyniec and OSP Krzyżowa. Both units are part of the national system and are equipped with three firefighting vehicles, including one heavy vehicle in Różyniec. These units have a total of 53 active and insured firefighters.

In the center of the municipality there is OSP Gromadka, with two firefighting vehicles and a staff of 18 active and insured volunteer firefighters. This unit is also part of the national system.

The northern part of Gromadka Municipality is served by OSP units in Wierzbowa and Nowa Kuźnia, equipped with three firefighting vehicles. A total of 39 volunteer firefighters are actively serving in both units.

The annual cost of maintaining these units exceeds PLN 900,000, excluding investments, meaning the cost of purchasing new equipment.
