Statement of the Piarist Province dated 24 May 2025:

As Piarists, we sincerely apologize to everyone who is experiencing scandal because of reports on the Internet about a Piarist from Bolesławiec leading a double life.

Immediately after the publication, on 21 May this year, we began an investigation. Today, 24 May, the Provincial Superior, Fr. Piotr (...), imposed preventive measures, including a ban on exercising the priestly ministry and wearing clerical attire.

The ongoing ecclesiastical investigation concerns canonical offences, while the Province will cooperate with state authorities, including the police and the prosecutor’s office, if suspicions arise of acts prosecuted under criminal law. The Provincial Superior or a Piarist delegated by him will be available to you who are part of our community, especially the close-knit community that knows us personally.

“Please do not apply collective responsibility or hold the students and teachers of the Piarist School in Bolesławiec responsible. We remain in constant contact with the istotne.pl editorial team,” says Fr. Jacek Wolan, spokesman for the Province.

The director of the Piarist school in Bolesławiec, Fr. Marek Kudach SP, confirmed in a letter to parents that the religious brother described on istotne.pl is Fr. Piotr, the institution’s longtime catechist.

The director expressed deep regret and apologized to the parents for the scandal and the breach of trust. He stressed that he had no information indicating that the unworthy behavior was connected with the religious brother’s work at the school. He also assured them that psychological support and the opportunity to speak with representatives of the order were available. For those interested, the Provincial Delegate for the Protection of Adults and Minors is also available—the contact details were provided in the email sent to parents.
