In May 2025, a complaint was submitted to the Legnica Curia against the former parish priest of Bolesławiec, whom the bishop transferred to Węgliniec at the end of 2023.

“We wrote it, and more than one hundred residents of Węgliniec, both women and men, signed it,” says the initiator and organizer of the letter-signing campaign addressed to the Curia. “I personally handed it over to members of the clergy at the Curia,” the organizer confirms.

The spokesperson for the Curia in Legnica was not pleased with our question about the letter written by the parishioners, in a parish that had previously produced a great many vocations and where it would seem that Bishop Andrzej Siemieniewski should take particular care of its well-being. The letter’s author has also received no response, although he still hopes for one, believing the bishop’s assurances that he will deal with the matter.

“I kindly inform you that matters concerning official correspondence may be discussed only with the authors of that correspondence,” replies Father Waldemar Wesołowski.

In 2023, Father Andrzej Jarosiewicz assured people that he had spent several months coming to the decision to resign as head of the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Bolesławiec, that he had burned out, and that retreats with fellow priests from his seminary class at one of the monasteries in Lower Silesia had helped him make the decision. However, his departure coincided with the period when istotne.pl was producing a film titled “Who Is Adrian?” about the parish priest’s relationship with a celebrity from Top Model who is almost 30 years younger than him.

The faithful residents of Węgliniec were not pleased with this change imposed on them by Bishop Andrzej Siemieniewski at the end of 2023. They preferred the previous parish priest, Father Janusz Kozyra. They emphasized that the former parish priest dealt with financial matters very transparently and accounted for them clearly, while fees for sacramental services were adjusted to the parishioners’ financial means.

Some people even visited the Curia to protest and express their disagreement with the change of parish priest, but no one took their opinion into account. The parishioners used various forms of resistance against the pastor imposed on them, but the Curia still refuses to listen to them.

The residents of Węgliniec have now launched another campaign: a letter that was handed to the bishop of Legnica on May 8, 2025. As we reported, the letter also remained unanswered.
