On Friday evening in Raciborowice, the driver of an Audi 80 lost control of the vehicle. The car left the road and became suspended in the bed of the Bobrzyca River. Fortunately for the people travelling in it, the car did not come into contact with the water. Two people travelling in the car were taken to a hospital in Bolesławiec.

The pre-holiday rush

Two 17-year-olds were very lucky. The Peugeot 605 driven by one of them left the road and hit a tree. The force of the impact threw one of the young men out of the wrecked vehicle. Firefighters had to use specialist equipment to free the other man. Both the driver and the passenger, who suffered serious injuries, were taken to hospital. The incident occurred on Saturday near Zebrzydowa. The cause of the accident was excessive speed.

Firefighters appeal against burning grass

During the two holiday days, the Bolesławiec fire service went out several times to put out burning fields. Farmers set fire to dry grass in an effort to reduce the amount of spring work involved in cultivating the land. Very often, fire spreads from fields to forests and buildings, posing a threat to the lives of people and animals. Firefighters appeal to farmers not to burn grass, reminding them that this practice is not only punishable by a fine but may also deprive farmers of direct payments from the European Union.
