On Monday evening, 5 May 2025, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Jawor firefighters received a report of a military coach crash at kilometre 110 of the A4 motorway in the direction of Wrocław. Officials: – The initial information indicated a large number of casualties, who turned out to be American soldiers. The situation was serious.

They add: – The SKKP duty officer in Jawor immediately dispatched substantial forces and resources from Jawor County, along with support from the neighbouring counties of Legnica, Środa Śląska and Wrocław. PSP and OSP units, emergency medical teams and the LPR Ratownik 13 helicopter from Wrocław headed to the scene.

From the first moments, the services worked under time pressure, knowing that every second could determine the lives of those injured.

When the first units arrived, rescuers found the coach overturned in a roadside ditch. All the soldiers had been evacuated before the rescuers arrived. Firefighters:

Some of them were injured; 8 people required immediate medical assistance, while the remaining 26 people suffered no serious injuries.

They also added:

The head of the first Emergency Medical Team immediately began triage, efficiently identifying the injured soldiers and assigning them appropriate medical-treatment priorities. The situation was dynamic and required coordination among many entities, as the Operational Group of the Lower Silesian Provincial Commander of the PSP from Wrocław was also deployed.

The services are determining the causes and circumstances of the incident. Crisis-management procedures were launched for the soldiers who were not injured. Gmina Wądroże Wielkie prepared a replacement bus and temporary shelter in a nearby school.

To thoroughly inspect the area beneath the wreck, the PSP Specialist Technical Rescue Group from Wrocław conducted operations.

The A4 motorway was completely blocked for the duration of the operation.

Firefighters: – This operation once again demonstrated the determination, dedication and professionalism of all the services: firefighters, paramedics, police officers and crisis-management administration staff.
