There are major difficulties on the A18 motorway toward the border crossing in Olszyna. The traffic jam stretches for many kilometres and, according to drivers, the waiting time to cross the border exceeds 90 minutes. The reason is detailed checks carried out by German border services.
Officers are checking almost every vehicle entering Germany. As a result, traffic jams are forming and vehicles are moving very slowly. Drivers are frustrated and are warning other travellers about the difficulties. “I have already been standing here for over an hour, and there is no end to the queue in sight,” one traveller reports.
It is not known how long the intensified checks will last. At present, there are no official statements from either the German or Polish border guards.
