On Wednesday, 16 March, the district-level qualifiers of the 56th Lower Silesian Recitation Competition, addressed to lower-secondary school students, were held at the Gallery of Talented Young People of the Stanisław Wyspiański Youth Cultural Centre in Bolesławiec. Eighteen reciters and three performers of sung poetry took part in the qualifiers.

The competition committee (comprising: Katarzyna Pranić, an instructor of literary and theatre workshops at the Youth Cultural Centre, Maria Sobolska, a Polish-language teacher, Elżbieta Dudziak, an instructor at the theatre and pantomime studio of the Youth Cultural Centre in Świdnica, and Marek Łętowski, head of the Bolesławiec Youth Cultural Centre and a music teacher) decided to award five main prizes. The winners in the recitation category were: Michał Krawczewski from Municipal Lower-Secondary School No. 4 in Bolesławiec, Justyna Szabłowska from Municipal Lower-Secondary School No. 1, Klaudia Żołna from the lower-secondary school in Nowogrodziec, and Katarzyna Szylin from Municipal Lower-Secondary School No. 2. In the sung poetry category, Marta Werens from Municipal Lower-Secondary School No. 3 took first place.

Honourable mentions in the recitation category went to: Aleksandra Kowalczyk from the lower-secondary school in Iwiny, Jagoda Słobodzian from the lower-secondary school in Wykroty, and Aleksandra Bogielska from the lower-secondary school in Nowogrodziec. The jurors also awarded an honourable mention to Anita Kaczmarek from Municipal Lower-Secondary School No. 2 (in the sung poetry category).

The competition winners qualified for the regional qualifiers, which will be held on 8 April at the Bolesławiec Youth Cultural Centre.
