Bolesławiec criminal investigators detained a 26-year-old man suspected of possessing a gas firearm and ammunition in the form of one blank cartridge, as well as misappropriating an identity document. – As soon as they entered the room used by the man, officers noticed a knuckleduster lying there, possession of which constitutes a misdemeanour – reports asp. szt. Monika Kaleta of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – A gas pistol was then found on the sofa, under a cushion. During a further search of the room, officers secured one blank cartridge and an identity card belonging to another person.
The man explained that he had bought the weapon several months earlier while attending a reenactment group's demonstration, and that he had found the identity document at a bus stop.
The suspect was detained and then escorted by officers to the District Prosecutor's Office in Bolesławiec, where he was charged in connection with the case.
The suspect faces up to 8 years in prison for the alleged offences.
The young Bolesławiec resident was placed under police supervision. Officers said: – The further investigation is intended to clarify the circumstances in which the weapon and ammunition were acquired, as well as the circumstances in which another person's identity card was found.
