On 11 April, the district qualifying round of the National Fire Safety Knowledge Tournament was held at the II General Secondary School in Bolesławiec. The tournament consisted of two stages: all participants first completed a 30-question test, and then the five people from each group who achieved the highest scores advanced to the second stage, which involved answering five randomly selected questions orally.

After all stages of the qualifying round had been completed, the results were as follows:

Group I – primary schools, grades I–IV

  1. place – Szymon Biegacz, School and Preschool Complex in Ocice
  2. place – Kacper Pytel, Jan Paweł II School Complex in Osiecznica
  3. place – Antoni Kozioł, Primary School in Gierałtów.

Group II – primary schools, grades V–VIII

  1. place – Aleksandra Różnicka, School and Preschool Complex in Bożejowice
  2. place – Amelia Szymczyk, School and Preschool Complex in Trzebień
  3. place – Jan Żółtański, Bolesław Chrobry Primary School in Nowogrodziec.

Group III – secondary schools

  1. place – Karolina Puzio, Janusz Korczak II General Secondary School in Bolesławiec
  2. place – Hubert Kopania, Ignacy Domeyko School of Electronics in Bolesławiec
  3. Place – Kalina Jankowska, Władysław Broniewski I General Secondary School in Bolesławiec.

The winners of the five places in each group received gift cards and material prizes. The group winners will take part in the regional qualifying round, which will be held in May in Jelenia Góra.

The aim of the tournament is to promote regulations and develop skills in the fields of civil protection, ecology, rescue services and fire safety. In particular, it serves to promote among children and young people knowledge of fire safety regulations, procedures to follow in the event of a fire, practical skills in using portable firefighting equipment, knowledge of firefighting technology, the organization of fire protection, rescue services in the broadest sense, and general public safety, as well as the history and traditions of the firefighting movement.

The organizers of the Bolesławiec County round were:

  1. The Bolesławiec County Board of the Association of Volunteer Fire Brigades of the Republic of Poland.
  2. The Bolesławiec County Headquarters of the State Fire Service.
  3. The Volunteer Fire Brigade in Gierałtów.
