On 11 April, the district stage of the 48th Agricultural Knowledge and Skills Olympiad (OWiUR)—one of the most important competitions in Poland for secondary-school students studying agricultural and related subjects—was held at the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences. Students of the Construction School Complex in Bolesławiec performed excellently in the Landscape Architecture category.
Nataliia Shkurupinska, a fifth-year technical-school student, took first place. She handled the demanding theoretical and practical tasks excellently, earning the highest score in her category. As a result, she advanced to the national stage of the OWiUR, which will be held on 23–24 May in Sejny.
Jakub Kozakiewicz, a second-year technical-school student, also achieved an impressive result, placing fourth in the overall standings. This is an exceptional achievement, especially since he competed against students from older classes with considerably more experience.
Both students were prepared for the Olympiad by Anna Dudek, a vocational-subjects teacher.
“This is a huge success for our students and proof that young people from our region have great potential. We are delighted that their work and commitment have been recognised,” emphasises Anna Dudek.
The Agricultural Knowledge and Skills Olympiad is a prestigious event that has supported the development of vocational education in Poland for several decades. The Landscape Architecture category requires not only extensive theoretical knowledge but also practical skills in designing green spaces, technical drawing, and knowledge of plants and the principles of spatial composition.
