Officers of the Customs and Tax Service from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław inspected a truck carrying waste on the A4 motorway near Jędrzychowice. – The driver, who was traveling from Germany, attempted to bring 20 tons of waste into Poland in the form of a mixture of crushed metal packaging and plastics – reports Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, spokesperson for the Lower Silesian KAS.

She adds: – The recipient of the waste informed the authorities that they would not be able to recover the plastics in compliance with the law.

The result? The Voivodeship Inspectorate for Environmental Protection deemed the shipment an illegal movement of waste. The recipient of the waste faces a fine ranging from PLN 10,000 to PLN 1 million.

What will happen to the waste?

The waste shipment was returned to the sender in Germany. It left the Polish border under customs supervision.

The spokesperson concludes: – Since the beginning of the year, officers from the Lower Silesian KAS have intercepted 67 tons of illegal waste.
