On the night from Friday to Saturday, officers from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Opole, the Independent Police Prevention Unit in Opole and criminal investigators from the Department for Combating Football Hooligan Crime of the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław monitored numerous journeys by football fans through the Lower Silesian and Opole provinces to football matches.
Opole police: “Around midnight, police officers noticed that football hooligans from Wrocław and Legnica had begun gathering near the A4 motorway, close to the village of Szydłów. A group of around 200 men was waiting for football hooligans from Bytom, supported by colleagues from Opole, to pass by so they could stage a so-called arranged fight.
And adds: “Thanks to cooperation between police officers from two police forces and a decisive response, a confrontation between antagonistic groups of football hooligans did not take place. Some of the men who wanted to provoke a confrontation were identified by the officers. The swift response of the Opole and Wrocław police prevented a brawl.
This is another successful police operation related to football hooligan activity. Let us recall that we recently reported that 200 hooligans were preparing to attack a train from Legnica.
