A Civic Coalition councillor Cezariusz Rudyk asked the starosta Tomasz Gabrysiak during Thursday’s session whether an additional measuring station would be established on the Bóbr. The starosta noted that immediately after the flood he had contacted the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management on the matter:
I received a response fairly quickly saying that this station would be established in 2025, meaning now.
For now, the exact location of the station is unknown; it is not known whether it will be in Lwówek Śląski or Włodzice. The head of the county office stressed that he would ask IMGW what stage the matter is at.
Let us recall. In September last year, we reported that at a session of the Bolesławiec County Council, starosta Tomasz Gabrysiak informed councillors about the dramatic situation in our county caused by the flood:
We had no information about the height of the flood wave and did not know when it would reach us.
We also noted:
The situation was monitored through IMGW. (The problem is that across the entire Bolesławiec County there is… just one water gauge on the Bóbr River—in Dąbrowa).
At the time, the starosta stressed:
I must thank two people: Artur Zych, the mayor of Wleń, who regularly told us the water level in his area, within the municipality. This allowed us to forecast when the wave would reach Bolesławiec. The second person is the deputy starosta of Lwówek County, Mr Zbigniew Grześków, who provided us with the water level in Lwówek.
