March 21 is not only the beginning of calendar spring, but also World Down Syndrome Day, also known as Colorful Sock Day. As every year, Public Kindergarten No. 5 in Bolesławiec joined the campaign on March 20.
During the activities, the children talked about how each of us is different in our own way and that, although we differ in many respects, this distinctiveness and diversity are natural.
The children from the younger groups painted a poster, decorated colorful socks with plasticine, took part in games using colorful socks, learned the story “Colorful Socks and the Mystery of Friendship,” and watched a short film.
The celebration of World Down Syndrome Day was rounded off by putting on two mismatched socks, symbolizing the children’s solidarity with difference.
