The “Head Hunters” from Lower Silesia never give up, and it is only a matter of time before the hideout of a criminal evading justice is revealed and the criminal is arrested. The same was true of a 31-year-old who, shortly before midnight on January 18, 2025, behaved irrationally while behind the wheel of a car at his disposal, and through his extremely irresponsible conduct created a direct risk of a catastrophe in land traffic.
The footage secured from surveillance cameras clearly shows that it was only narrowly avoided that night that pedestrians walking on the pavement suffered serious injury.
The driver tried to run over pedestrians in Głogów
Because the perpetrator hurriedly left the scene, police officers alerted to the dangerous situation immediately began searching for the driver. Initially, their actions were preventive in nature, but criminal investigators soon joined them. The information they had indicated that the man had previously clashed with the law and would probably avoid contact with the justice system. That is exactly what happened, as the wanted man clearly wanted to avoid criminal liability for the act.
However, this could not continue for long, because in addition to the multifaceted searches conducted by officers from the District Police Headquarters in Głogów and neighboring units, the best specialists from the Department of Searches and Identification of Persons of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław joined the operation.
The basis for the wide-ranging operation and subsequent activities, carried out in cooperation with the Głogów District Prosecutor’s Office, was also an arrest warrant issued for the 31-year-old. Experience and findings indicated that the man might use camouflage techniques, frequently change his place of residence and stay outside the country, so the officers appropriately adjusted the scope of their activities.
The search ended with the man’s arrest yesterday after 8:00 p.m., when the 31-year-old did not expect it at all. It took place in one of the multi-unit residential complexes in the western part of Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
The arrested man was taken to a police detention facility and today to a remand center. He will now await questioning at the Głogów prosecutor’s office. The man suspected of an offense under Article 174 § 1 of the Criminal Code may face up to 8 years in prison.
