Leszek Socha of the Civic Coalition in Nowogrodziec commented on the article “Less than PLN 4,000 for a plot and building in central Bolesławiec. The parish priest’s agreement with local authorities”. He compares these actions with other actions taken by the authorities of the Nowogrodziec municipality.

– This is not in the public interest; it is in the interest of a group of people I often mention – says Leszek Socha. – Welcome to the County Republic, where the law does not reach, and if it does, it reaches in a rather distorted form. In Parzyce, the school building was sold on practically the same terms, as was the plot on 1 Maja Street in Nowogrodziec. In no way is this in the public interest; if you are fine with it, that is your concern – adds the community activist.

Leszek Socha also refers to how the law works for an ordinary citizen and how it works for this “extraordinary” one.

– If this concerned an ordinary John Doe, the city would have taken the building away from him long ago. The parish failed to fulfill its promises, but apparently it is not at risk of having the building and plot taken away. I always say this: laws are created not in the public interest – says Socha about the building sold to the parish so that the Museum of Sacred Art could be established there.

Leszek Socha also asks the councillors whether they remember what they swore during their oath of office:

“Faithful to the Constitution and the law of the Republic of Poland, I solemnly swear to perform the duties of a councillor with dignity, diligence and honesty, keeping in mind the interests of my municipality and its residents”
