Officers from the Police Station in Nowogrodziec, at around 5:00 a.m., while patrolling the industrial park in Wykroty, noticed a man by a lorry who, on seeing the uniformed officers, hid a can filled with liquid in the cab.
Police Headquarters: – The 61-year-old was unable to explain the reason for his behaviour. When the officers asked him where the fuel in the can had come from, he was unable to provide a rational explanation.
It became clear that the man had been caught stealing.
Further findings confirmed the officers’ suspicions. The resident of Pomorskie Voivodeship, who had stopped for an overnight break in Bolesławiec County before travelling abroad, drained fuel from his employer’s lorry, claiming that “it was only 20 litres”.
The officers:
When he was asked to show his documents, he tried to hand the officers a bribe. Asked by the local police officer whether he was aware of what he was doing, he told the officers not to make a fuss and that the problem would be over.
The 61-year-old lorry driver was arrested in connection with an attempt to bribe police officers, and the 100-złoty banknote was secured as evidence. The man faces a prison sentence of between one and ten years.
That was not all. The man from Pomorskie will also be held accountable for the offence he committed: stealing fuel from the lorry’s tank. The suspect was brought before the Bolesławiec prosecutor’s office, where he was charged. The prosecutor applied a non-custodial preventive measure: police supervision.
