On Saturday, March 8, Bolesławiec hosted table leaders GKS Cement Raciborowice at Rajska. The match, played in truly summery weather and described as the match of the round, attracted a sizeable crowd.
The visitors could have taken the lead as early as the 4th minute. Adrian Kulesza was brought down in the BKS penalty area. The referee awarded a penalty. Karol Nikodem stepped up, but BKS goalkeeper Tomek Hajduczek read the shooter’s intentions and parried the ball for a corner.
During the first quarter of an hour, the visitors took several shots at the hosts’ goal, but none were particularly dangerous. The BKS goalkeeper dealt with them without major difficulty. What can be said about the first half? It was not much of a spectacle.
There was a lot of play in midfield, plenty of challenges for the ball, but also a great deal of imprecision and chaos. One situation worth noting involved the home player Paweł Złotorowicz. Unfortunately, the footballer failed to take advantage of the opportunity, waiting too long to shoot.
As the second half progressed, BKS increasingly took control. They had more possession than their opponents and created more chances that could have ended in a goal. The BKS players could not be faulted for ambition and fighting spirit. Filip Zagórski deserves particular mention here, as he was literally everywhere. He seemed to be in two places at once.
What was missing, however, was the finishing touch on the chances created. It had long been known that the BKS–GKS match would arouse strong emotions. The Raciborowice team manager, Andrzej Socha, received a red card for expressing them too vehemently.
The 77th minute proved decisive. Maciej Szewczyk took the corner, and Karol Borowski rose highest and beat the visiting goalkeeper with a fine header.
As it turned out, it was the only goal of the match, although very little was missing for the lead to be extended in the closing stages. BKS defeated GKS Cement Raciborowice 1–0 and reduced their deficit to them in the table to two points.
Following their defeat in Bolesławiec, GKS Cement Raciborowice remain among the leaders, where of the district league the table is very congested and the points differences are small. This guarantees a very interesting race for promotion to the IV league.
