Officers of the Customs and Tax Service from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław inspected a truck carrying waste on the A4 motorway near Jędrzychowice. The driver, who had come from Germany, was attempting to bring 23 tons of waste into Poland in the form of used agricultural fleece contaminated with soil.

– The waste recipient informed the authorities that it would not be able to recover the plastics in accordance with the law because the waste was too heavily contaminated – says Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, spokesperson for the Lower Silesian KAS.

She adds:

WIOŚ deemed the shipment an illegal movement of waste. The waste recipient faces a fine ranging from PLN 10,000 to PLN 1 million.

The waste shipment was returned to the sender in Germany. Under customs supervision, it left Polish territory.
