On Sunday, a road incident occurred on the Bolesławiec section of the A4 motorway. A passenger car hit a police car belonging to officers from the Police Station in Nowogrodziec, who were securing the scene of a collision and directing road users onto a detour. One of the police officers, who was standing in front of the service vehicle, avoided being hit thanks to his immediate reaction and jumping towards the barrier.
The driver responsible for the incident was a 47-year-old resident of Wrocław County, who was driving while intoxicated. The man was detained and, after sobering up, brought by officers from the Police Station in Kruszyn to the Bolesławiec prosecutor’s office.
The man was charged with driving while intoxicated and, at the same place and time, endangering police officers by driving a vehicle and exposing them to a direct risk of loss of life or serious bodily harm. While driving on the A4, he failed to follow the signals given by a police officer standing in the middle of the motorway in front of a marked police car, instructing him to move into the motorway exit lane, and hit the police car.
The suspect faces up to three years in prison.
