Last week, we published information about the decision in the open call for proposals to support the implementation of public tasks in the area of cultural and sporting projects. The information explains how money was allocated to Bolesławiec sports clubs for 2025. We also publish an explanation from the city office regarding the criteria and rules adopted for allocating money to sport.

The allocation of money for sport has caused considerable controversy. Representatives of clubs that did not receive city funding do not hide their anger. They ask: why was the money divided this way? Why did some receive money while others did not? Why do children have no choice, while football clubs receive the entire pool for sport?

Some clubs are submitting complaints to the office as part of their protest

Sports clubs that did not receive funding (see the table below – tasks with an amount of PLN 0) do not agree with this allocation of money. As part of their protest, they are submitting complaint letters to the Bolesławiec City Office, accusing the assessment committee of irregularities in evaluating the applications. They are demanding that the mayor annul the decided contest and announce a new one. They are also demanding a change to the committee assessing funding applications.

City office explanation regarding the allocation of funds for sport:

Funding was awarded to proposals that scored more than 30 points in the assessment. The key criterion was the number of children participating in training.

Although the subject of funding for sports clubs may seem complicated, it certainly deserves attention, especially in the context of the open call for proposals for 2025 announced by the Mayor of Bolesławiec. The purpose of this contest is to support the implementation of public tasks concerning sporting projects that may be carried out by non-governmental organizations and other entities operating in the public-benefit sphere.

It is worth noting that by December 30, 2024, as many as 35 proposals had been submitted to the City Office, for a total of PLN 1,456,717. This is an impressive amount, considering that the planned amount of public funds for 2025 was PLN 400,000, meaning that the requested funding covered 27.5% of total needs. Such strong interest demonstrates the growing activity of sports clubs in the city.

Due to the limited pool of funds, funding was awarded only to proposals that scored more than 30 points in the assessment. The key criterion was the number of children participating in training, demonstrating the importance of engaging young people in sporting activity. Each assessed proposal described the involvement of between 150 and 250 children and young people, which significantly contributes to building a healthy and active community and engaging a broad range of participants.

The process of awarding funds took place in accordance with established rules, which included, among other things, assessing the applicant’s ability to carry out the task, calculating costs and considering previous cooperation. These rules were developed jointly with sports clubs and are included each time in the contest announcement.

All available funds for carrying out tasks in the field of sport were ultimately distributed, demonstrating the importance attached to supporting sport and the physical activity of children and young people in Bolesławiec.
