At the end of January, information concerning the outcome of the call for proposals to support the implementation of public tasks in the field of cultural and sports initiatives by non-governmental organizations and other entities authorized to conduct activities in the public-benefit sphere in 2025 appeared on the website of the Bolesławiec City Office.

The information and table published by the city office show that many clubs did not receive any money. People associated with the clubs that did not receive financial support from the city are not hiding their anger. According to one of our interlocutors, this is the first time that so many applications have been rejected.

One reader wrote to us:

In Bolesławiec, no sports other than football exist. Volleyball: PLN 0, squash: PLN 0, combat sports: PLN 0, swimming: PLN 0, badminton: PLN 0, TOP Bolesławiec: PLN 0. Is this really how it should look? Why do children have no choice, while football clubs receive the entire sports fund?

A reader also asked us to take up the issue:

Please take an interest in the allocation of funds from the Bolesławiec city budget for sports funding. Only football clubs received money (...)

Below, we publish the city office’s explanation of how the money for sports clubs was allocated, as well as a table showing how the funds were divided:

Funding was awarded to offers that received more than 30 points in the evaluation. The key criterion was the number of children participating in training.

Although the issue of funding for sports clubs may seem complicated, it certainly deserves attention, especially in the context of the open call for proposals for 2025 announced by the Mayor of Bolesławiec. The purpose of the call is to support the implementation of public tasks concerning sports initiatives that may be carried out by non-governmental organizations and other entities operating in the public-benefit sphere.

By December 30, 2024, as many as 35 offers had been submitted to the City Office, for a total amount of PLN 1,456,717. This is an impressive sum, considering that the planned amount of public funds for 2025 was PLN 400,000, meaning that the requested funding covered 27.5% of the total needs. Such strong interest demonstrates the growing activity of sports clubs in the city.

Due to the limited pool of funds, funding was awarded only to offers that received more than 30 points in the evaluation. The key criterion was the number of children participating in training, showing how important it is to involve young people in sports activities. Each of the evaluated offers described the involvement of between 150 and 250 children and young people, which significantly contributes to building a healthy and active community and engaging a broad group of participants.

The process of awarding funds was carried out in accordance with established rules, which included, among other things, an assessment of the applicant’s ability to carry out the task, cost calculations, and previous cooperation. These rules were developed jointly with sports clubs and are included in the call announcement each time.

All available funds for carrying out tasks in the field of sports were ultimately distributed, demonstrating the importance attached to supporting sports and physical activity among children and young people in Bolesławiec.
