Officers from the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec arrested a man who was stealing electricity. The officers said: – The suspect connected an extension cord from his apartment to the box containing fuses and meters, located in the stairwell right by the entrance to the multi-unit building. This allowed him to illegally power his household appliances and audiovisual equipment with the electricity he had obtained.
The city resident explained to police that his electricity had been cut off several days earlier. The police headquarters said: – Therefore, he decided to find a workaround so that his household appliances could continue to operate.
It added:
Creating electrical installation bypasses on your own or making makeshift connections to boxes can lead to a short circuit and even create a fire hazard.
The 65-year-old resident of Bolesławiec now faces up to 5 years in prison.
