In 2023, the journalist published texts by Bogusław Nowak on his portal and in a printed newspaper. He marked the texts as commissioned/sponsored articles. He apparently thought that this way he could avoid responsibility for the defamation, because the text contained defamatory passages. Bogusław Nowak has already apologised to the person harmed by the texts. Now it is time for the journalist to take responsibility for these publications.
Let us add that this is not the only court case. Since 2022, a case has been pending over bolecinfo’s failure to publish several corrections on the website; another action for a correction will be brought this year.
What is locally interesting is that the case will take place in a Kraków court. The registered office of the bolecinfo editorial office is located there, even though the portal deals with the policies of local authorities and the affairs of Bolesławiec residents in Lower Silesia. What is more... Bolec promotes its portal and newspaper as number one in Bolesławiec County, although according to independent Similarweb data, bolecinfo has half the viewership of istotne.pl. Bolec writes “corrections” about viewership on its own website. In them, it provides figures that we cannot verify in any way because bolec does not want to share the source data from Google Analytics with the independent Similarweb website. We make our data available because reliability and transparency are our top priorities.
