Officers from the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters arrested a 29-year-old man in a foot pursuit. He had failed to return to the pre-trial detention centre, where he was serving a prison sentence. – The convicted man comes from Bolesławiec County and is known to the local Police as the perpetrator of numerous crimes, including offences against property – explains Senior Warrant Officer Anna Kublik-Rościszewska from our District Police Headquarters.

She adds: – After arresting the convicted man, Bolesławiec officers – thanks to a rapid exchange of information – established that the man who moved in a distinctive manner had been in the city and that he was the one who broke into a car parked in the city centre, by a church. After smashing the window, the suspect stole a woman’s handbag containing documents, bank cards, cash and a telephone.

The man confessed to the alleged offence.

During the proceedings, police officers established where the perpetrator had hidden part of the loot. The spokesperson said:

Several documents were also found in a pair of trousers that the 29-year-old abandoned while fleeing. A witness who found the item of clothing handed investigators valuable evidence in the case. The telephone, handbag, wallet, registration certificates and other items important to the victim were recovered.

The 29-year-old has already been taken to a pre-trial detention centre. He now faces an additional sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
