Update
We asked Bolesławiec City Hall about the matter. (The administrator of Nadrzeczna Street is the Mayor of Bolesławiec.) Since this involves an intersection with a county road (Dolne Młyny Street), Bolesławiec City Hall referred us to the County. Emilia Michałowska from the County Promotion Department:
The location you indicated at the intersection of Dolne Młyny and Nadrzeczna streets is a suggested crossing. Regulations define a suggested crossing (Article 2, point 11a) as an unmarked, technically adapted location enabling pedestrians to cross a roadway, a cycle path or a track, which is not a pedestrian crossing.
The Reader pointed out to us that pedestrians heading to the Biedronka chain store on Mostowa Street in Bolesławiec often take a “shortcut”—to be precise, at the intersection of Dolne Młyny and Nadrzeczna streets, they cross diagonally at a location where there is no pedestrian crossing. (See the header photo.) In his opinion, this makes the location dangerous.
The Bolesławiec resident added that a pedestrian crossing would be useful there.
We asked the administrator about the matter and will publish the response as soon as we receive it.
