Last Friday (20 December), Jelenia Góra Border Guard officers stopped a passenger Skoda during a routine traffic check on the A4 motorway. The vehicle was driven by a 32-year-old resident of Wałbrzych County. Inside, they found tobacco leaf without excise tax markings in the form of compressed blocks, with a total weight of 200 kg. The Polish man was detained along with the secured goods.
As a result of further operations, the Border Guard officers searched a garage belonging to the detainee, where they found additional quantities of cut tobacco and a specialised machine for cutting tobacco. The equipment discovered was probably used to produce illegal tobacco products.
