One of the “naked men” is a 61-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County, for whom the prosecutor imposed a preventive measure in 2024: a ban on approaching the Bóbr River within Bolesławiec to a distance of less than 100 metres. The man exposed himself in front of minors, for which he faces up to 3 years in prison,

We have been writing in our pages since 2016 about the perverted men known under the name “Naked Man by the Bóbr.” In August 2016, we published the first report about an exhibitionist. Our readers had previously reported the incidents on the forum, and then we received a photograph. At the time, the police also asked for photographs and reports. Since then, several times a year we have written about the “elusive Naked Man by the Bóbr.” The latest report, from September 2024, concerns a man between 40 and 50 years old who travels by bicycle.

Readers’ descriptions indicate that the riverside Bóbr trail acts like a magnet for exhibitionists. They have settled there like beavers. Apparently, the terrain suits them: bushes and thickets, as well as the chance to surprise women walking by the river.

Can exhibitionism be treated?

Treatment for the need to undress in front of others, namely exhibitionism, is a subject that still provokes strong emotions and controversy. It is nevertheless worth looking at the issue from a slightly different perspective.

The foundation of therapy in such cases is psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy. What is the purpose of all this? It is intended to help people who have difficulty controlling their sexual urges, as well as to enable them to find healthier, more acceptable ways of expressing their needs.

One of the most popular forms of therapy, which works very well in such cases, is cognitive behavioural therapy. It enables patients to identify what triggers their impulsive behaviour. It becomes easier to understand oneself and learn to cope with intrusive thoughts. It is important that these therapies be conducted by specialists who can support the patient at every stage.

Medication must not be forgotten! In cases where psychological therapy is not enough, pharmacological treatment should be considered. Drugs such as SSRIs, commonly used to treat depression, may help reduce sexual desire. When a patient is dealing with hypersexuality, stronger medications that reduce testosterone levels may be used.
