On the incident occurred on Wednesday, November 27, in Kraśnik Dolny. Police officers from Bolesławiec received a report that a dead cat had been found on one of the properties.
Initial findings indicated that the animal’s death may have resulted from being shot with an air rifle. Officers from the Police Station in Kruszyn detained a man suspected of committing the crime. The officers secured the weapon belonging to a resident of Bolesławiec commune and the cat’s carcass.
Investigative activities confirmed that several hours before the dead cat was found, the suspect shot at the animal when it was on his property. After being shot, the cat fled.
The 67-year-old was charged with fatally shooting the cat, for which he faces up to three years in prison.
