PKP has made an initial summary of the campaign collecting passengers’ opinions about connections and proposals for new trains. In just one month, nearly 13,000 entries were registered in the database. More than 70% of submissions were proposals to introduce new trains. The largest share concerned the Mazowieckie Voivodeship (17.7% of entries), followed by the Dolnośląskie Voivodeship (15.5% of proposals) and the Śląskie Voivodeship (9.5%).
Nearly half of the proposed connections were passenger trains, while only 17% belonged to the Express, InterCity and EuroCity categories. Almost one-quarter of the completed forms contained suggestions concerning the operation of trains already in service.
The “Build with Us” campaign is part of preparations for implementing a new timetable in December 2005, which will remain in effect for the next three years. During this period, only minor changes to train services will be introduced. The new timetable must meet passengers’ expectations while also taking PKP’s funding capabilities into account. Hence the need to collect as many opinions as possible about the current timetable and gain knowledge of passengers’ expectations.
