In addition, the extensive infrastructure makes this place even more comfortable for two-wheel enthusiasts. Standing alongside it, however, as an important element of this plan, is the Lower Silesian Sports Centre, which perfectly complements the opportunities offered by the Jizera trails, providing cyclists with all the amenities needed to explore the routes comfortably.
“Polana Jakuszycka and the Lower Silesian Sports Centre are places where cyclists can make full use of the extensive infrastructure. The rental service operating at our facility offers various types of bicycles, including electric models, ideal for those who want to cover mountain routes more easily but still care about physical activity. After all, such a bicycle does not ride itself—it requires effort, but opens up new possibilities for anyone who wants to try their hand on the trails of the Jizera Mountains,” says Wojciech Gęstwa, president of the management board of the Lower Silesian Sports Centre.
The trails lead through peaceful meadows, peat bogs and wooded hills, creating a unique mosaic of landscapes. Each route conceals something special: the road to Chatka Górzystów via Orle Mountain Refuge beckons with silence and the wild beauty of nature, while the Izerskie Society Trail offers a 19-kilometre adventure along dirt roads with views of the Jizera and Karkonosze Mountains.
“More experienced cyclists can take on the ‘Gravel Cycling in the Jizera Mountains’ route, a 64-kilometre loop that begins at the Lower Silesian Sports Centre in Polana Jakuszycka. The route passes through picturesque areas towards Orle Mountain Refuge and touches on the viewpoint at Samolot, from where an exceptional panorama of the Jizera landscape unfolds. It also runs, among other places, through Polana Izerska and Hala Izerska, all the way to the charming Chatka Górzystów. It is a genuine adventure for mountain-trail enthusiasts, combining physical exertion with the unparalleled beauty of nature at every stage. These are not, however, the only cycling attractions of the Jizera Mountains. Cycling trails in the Jizera and Karkonosze Mountains cover nearly 200 kilometres of varied routes, from family-friendly trails to demanding technical sections. The areas around Jakuszyce offer tranquillity and picturesque views while also presenting challenges for experienced cyclists. The singletracks near Świeradów lead through wild mountain terrain, offering unique experiences and contact with nature at every turn,” adds President Gęstwa.
What attracts cycling tourists and distinguishes Jakuszyce from other mountain regions is its gentle terrain. Thanks to the small elevation gains, even longer routes, such as the 30-kilometre loop, do not require great effort and allow visitors to enjoy mountain views without exhausting climbs. It is an excellent place for those just beginning their adventure with mountain cycling trails, enabling them to discover their charms in a more accessible way.
After cycling adventures, it is time for some rest at the Lower Silesian Sports Centre, which offers excellent opportunities for relaxation and recovery. Visitors can find relief in the pool or sauna and strengthen their hard-working bodies with a hearty meal at Restauracja Jakuszycka. The picturesque Polana stretches out beyond its windows, while the varied menu, tailored to different needs, is suitable both after a demanding workout and an intensive period of relaxation.
It is impossible not to feel that Polana Jakuszycka opens an entirely new chapter in autumn. The wealth of cycling routes and the comprehensive infrastructure of the Lower Silesian Sports Centre make it a place that invites visitors to discover mountain trails in a colorful new guise. It is the perfect time to see Jakuszyce from the perspective of two wheels and rediscover the magic of the Jizera Mountains.
