Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra detained a 35-year-old resident of Karkonosze County suspected of burglaries. The officers determined that, after his partner’s father died, the man used his payment card without having the right to do so.
On May 29 and June 3 of this year, the man used the card to withdraw cash from an ATM. According to the investigation files, the suspect knew the PIN because he had previously used the card, with the deceased’s permission, to pay for purchases. In total, the suspect withdrew more than 5,000 zlotys from the deceased’s account, harming one of the banks.
After being notified of a burglary committed to the detriment of one of the banks and securing surveillance-camera footage, officers identified and then detained the 35-year-old as a suspect in these crimes. The officers gathered evidence that enabled them to bring charges against the suspect in this case.
The resident of Karkonosze County will now face trial and could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.
