A regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure prohibiting the installation along roads of speed camera poles to which a device cannot be connected should enter into force in the coming days. The draft regulation also states that poles without a speed-recording device will have to be covered.

There are nine poles in Bolesławiec County. Four of them have always stood empty. They are merely dummies, as they do not even have electricity to power the devices.

The District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec has only one speed-recording device. The speed camera is periodically placed on the following poles:

  • Wilczy Las (towards Legnica)
  • Tomaszowów Bolesławiecki (towards Bolesławiec)
  • Kruszyn (towards Bolesławiec)
  • Brzeźnik (towards Zgorzelec)
  • Czerna

The four empty poles are located in Kruszyn (towards Legnica), Brzeźnik (travelling from Zgorzelec towards Bolesławiec), and two in Jaroszowice.

There are no plans to permanently install a speed camera on any of the poles. Nor is the dismantling of the empty ones currently planned. There is time to do so until July. The speed camera poles used by the police were erected in the most dangerous locations.

Below is the applicable fine schedule for speeding.

  • up to 10 km/h – up to PLN 50
  • 11–20 km/h – from PLN 50 to PLN 100
  • 21–30 km/h – from PLN 100 to PLN 200
  • 31–40 km/h – from PLN 200 to PLN 300
  • 41–50 km/h – from PLN 300 to PLN 400
  • 51 km/h and more – from PLN 400 to PLN 500
