In material published by us on 12 October Political War Within the School Walls? Parents and Teachers versus the School Principal Aneta Polak assured readers that the school was functioning very well and that the inspection by the education authority, which was being conducted at the institution, would be beneficial to her. Moreover, Aneta Polak expressed certainty that the mayor of Nowogrodziec would not dismiss her and that the whole matter would gradually die down.
Not all of the principal’s assurances described above proved true. Media reports are still being published, the inspection revealed irregularities, and so far Joanna Świder has not dismissed the principal.
In a conversation with us, Aneta Polak argued that former principal Teresa Kida, together with the staff and parents, were making things difficult for her. To that end, they were mobilizing the Parents’ Council and teachers, and according to information from Aneta Polak, one of the teachers was allegedly the instigator of the entire campaign.
The principal also emphasized that at the beginning, when she took up the position, she had no practical assistance, not even from someone employed in the school office. That person reportedly went on sick leave, leaving the principal without support.
“As a consequence of the inspection, recommendations were issued,” Miłosława Bożek from the Wrocław Education Authority informed the editorial office by email. “They concern, among other things, the organization of the school’s work, which should be implemented immediately: ensuring students’ safety during breaks; observing the functions of the pedagogical council; organizing psychological and pedagogical assistance and appropriate individual instruction; and cooperating with all school bodies, including the Parents’ Council, in carrying out their tasks. A follow-up inspection is planned for November,” Mirosława Bożek added.
It is possible that the inspection by officials from the education authority will help the new principal improve the operation of the school, which has more than 70 years of tradition. This assistance and the regulation of school life, in turn, may reassure the teachers and lead them to begin cooperating with the principal. As a result, what is most important at school will be guaranteed: cooperation, kindness and solidarity.
