The first incident occurred in the afternoon in Proboszczów, in Pielgrzymka municipality. A resident of Karkonosze County lost control of the vehicle he was driving on a bend in the road, as a result of which he veered onto a nearby property, destroying ornamental garden plants. After arriving at the scene and establishing the circumstances of the incident, a traffic police officer checked the sobriety of the 35-year-old driver. A breathalyzer test showed more than 1.7 per mille of alcohol in his system. This means that the man will be held responsible not only for causing a road collision but also for driving while intoxicated. The officer confiscated his driving licence and secured the car, thereby preventing the 35-year-old from driving any further. A court will decide his fate.

The second incident occurred in the middle of the night in Wojcieszów. A couple driving through the town noticed a passenger car lying in a ditch and a man walking along the road. The police officers who arrived at the scene established that the 37-year-old driver of an Opel passenger car lost control of the vehicle on a straight section of road, causing it to enter a ditch and roll over. The driver got out of the vehicle on his own and can consider himself very lucky, as he suffered no injuries. Unfortunately, he was heavily intoxicated and will not avoid responsibility for committing two road-related offences.

A breathalyzer test showed that he had almost 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his system and that he had been driving despite a court-imposed driving ban. The ban had been imposed several years earlier in connection with his having also driven while intoxicated. The car was secured by a roadside assistance service, and a court will decide the fate of the extremely irresponsible repeat offender.

In both cases, the cars did not belong to the drivers, so they will not be confiscated; however, the court will order the men to forfeit the monetary equivalent of the vehicles. They also face imprisonment and a driving ban.

We remind you that driving a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol is strictly prohibited. Drivers who disregard the regulations in this regard expose themselves to legal consequences, but above all they should realize how great a danger they create on the road.

Have you been drinking? Don't drive! Take care of your own safety and that of other road users!
