As reported by Bolesławiec municipality: – A major cleanup has begun at the properties already uncovered by the water. Some homes are still under water, and access to them is impossible. Nearly 40 properties were affected in Trzebień itself; adults and children were among those evacuated, and the youngest of them is just one month old.
He also adds:
In Trzebień, along Parkowa and Mostowa streets, firefighters, residents, the military and volunteers built approximately 1.5 km of levee reinforcements. This means tons of sand and thousands of sandbags, which are still securing the area in many places today.
Four units of the municipality’s Volunteer Fire Service, including the local OSP Trzebień unit, secured the area, evacuated people, reinforced the levees, and saved private and municipal property. The volunteer firefighters worked side by side with their colleagues from the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec, GOPR rescuers, soldiers from the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec, cadets and volunteers. Everyone worked tirelessly, but ultimately some of the levees failed under the pressure of the water, resulting in flooded properties.
When driving through Trzebień along the main road, the extent of the damage is not visible. However, it is enough to approach Mostowa and Parkowa streets. Homes are still flooded, heavy equipment is removing sandbags, and Trzebień residents are carrying water-damaged appliances, furniture and clothes out of their homes… Some residents were without electricity, and power has still not been restored to some of them. Some roads are still flooded and impassable. Hundreds of hectares of arable fields have also been flooded – crops and soil structure have been largely destroyed, and access to the fields is severely limited.
