During Thursday’s meeting of the Bolesławiec County Council, councillor Radosław Palczewski of PO asked about the situation involving the crane and the closed bridge on Zgorzelecka Street:

Couldn’t it have been anticipated that this bridge would be closed because of the crane? Couldn’t an administrative decision have been issued ordering its dismantling? Can’t anything be done to unblock this crossing after all?

County head Tomasz Gabrysiak:

This is not a bridge administered by Bolesławiec County or the City of Bolesławiec. The administrator is the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways. We were in constant contact with the deputy director of the Wrocław branch of the GDDKiA. They knew perfectly well that an alert had been issued. I am unable to assess what motivated the GDDKiA’s decision. I think the GDDKiA must provide us with some explanations, especially since this situation had a direct impact on the safety of residents, the city and the municipalities in the county.

Councillor R. Palczewski followed up by asking whether the city and county authorities were considering filing a report with the prosecutor’s office. “This cannot be left like this,” he added.

The county head replied that he would consider it, but that there was still no official position from the GDDKiA on the matter.
